Do You Have A Child Who's Going Green?

Tell us about them! We would love to know what they are doing to help the environment. The children of today are the leaders of tomorrow, so we need to encourage them to take care of the Earth right now so it becomes a positive habit that will be carried out through their adulthood!

Start Small

It's so important for everyone to realize that we can make a difference. You don't have to start out travelling the world talking to people about the environment. You can start small by changing your lightbulbs from incandescent to fluorescent. Not only is it helping the environment by using less energy, you (or your parents) can save money on your electric bill!

There is a young 9 year old girl in the South who cares about the Earth. You have never heard of her, but she is making a difference in her house. She loves plants and animals and being creative. What does she do to help the environment? She encourages her parents to use fluorescent lighbulbs, recycle, conserve water and many other things. This young girl is also an example by eating healthfully. Ever since she was a young child, she didn't really like the popular fast food hamburgers. Instead she preferred salads and fruits. Today, she enjoys eating the fruits and vegetables from her mother's small garden. Will this young girl forget what she did when she was young? I believe she'll want to continue helping the environment even when she becomes an adult with children of her own. It doesn't matter that she's not famous, what matters is that she is doing what she can to help, right now!

Or Start Big!

There is a youth who has been trying to help the environment for the past 3 years and his name is Jonathan Lee. It all started when he was 10 and watching a science show about the environment. When it was over, Jonathan thought about what he could do to help the environment and came up with a cartoon character named GoGreen Man. While you may not have heard about GoGreen Man where you live, he has been talked about in schools where Jonathan lives as well as overseas. What started as a drawing, quickly became an international figure that took this young boy to Congress (where he has met many Senators and Congresspersons) and internationally where he has met other world leaders

As this youth has grown up, he has matured and changed in how he helps the environment. Just last year, he founded a youth environmental group called I.C.E.Y. - H.O.P.E. - International Cooperation of Environmental Youth - Helping Our Polluted Earth. It is his hope to have the youth united around the world so they can work together helping each other make this world a better place. I think that's pretty amazing, don't you?
