This chart is designed to provide you with approximate guidelines for proper hydration and is not intended to take the place of medical advice from your healthcare providers.  Individuals under the care of a healthcare provider (e.g., those with heart problems; kidney problems, etc.) should consult with them before dramatically increasing water intake.

Thirst alone is not an accurate means to determine if you are drinking enough water.  Certain medical conditions or medications can make you thirsty.  Chronic thirst may signal the presence of a medical condition and should be discussed with your healthcare provider immediately.
